Government Y2K Contract Extended

August 5, 1999 - Toronto - Transcend's contract for the Ontario Government Y2K Telecom Project has been extended to include the Clean Management and Business Continuity Phases of the project. The project consisted of assessing the Y2K risk for telephone systems at nearly 1000 Ministry of Attorney General, Solicitor General, and Correctional Services locations across the province, and taking corrective action at approximately 65 sites that were not Y2K-ready. Transcend has provided Project Management expertise since August 1998.

The Clean Management Phase will ensure that any changes made to the Y2K-ready inventory of equipment is also Y2K-ready. Clean Management practices will be in effect through March 31, 2000.

The Business Continuity Phase consists of planning an implementing the activities that the Ministry will perform throughout the Millennium Transition Period, New Year's Eve. "While you are out celebrating, we'll be on duty", says Transcend's President, Robert Charuk. "It is necessary to be there to assist, just in case. Given the public health and safety responsibilities of the Ontario Government, it is the responsible approach".

Transcend was selected to manage these phases of the project because of their experience managing projects at the Ontario Government. Transcend is currently providing Project Management expertise at the Ministry on a number of other projects.

The Y2K Project will be officially completed by March 31, 2000.
