Ontario Government Data Centre LAN “Flash-Cut” to Guelph Data Centre Completes Successfully June 10, 2011 - Toronto – The “Flash-Cut” of the Data Centre LAN to the Guelph Data Centre completed successfully for the Ontario Government last weekend. Robert Charuk, Transcend Communications Corp. President and Technical Lead for the “Flash-Cut” confirmed that the network was handed over to steady-state operations today, following a week-long stabilization period. “The network is performing exactly as planned,” he commented. The “Flash-Cut” procedure, which re-routed WAN access to the Ontario Government Data Centre through the newly-constructed Data Centre LAN in Guelph, involved over 300 technical and non-technical staff during the June 3-5 weekend. “Flash-Cut” paves the way for rapid application server migration, scheduled to start immediately. Mr. Charuk has been DC LAN Technical Lead on the Guelph Data Centre IT Transition Project since November of 2008, and has lead each of the discovery, design, and migration planning phases. It is expected that all applications and equipment will be migrated to Guelph by the fall of 2012. Revised: June 10, 2011 |
