Transcend to Assist in Government Y2K Telecom Project

September 21, 1998 - Toronto - Transcend Communications Corp. will assist the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services in a large Year 2000 Telecom Project. The Ministry is currently assessing its Y2K risk for telephone systems at nearly 1000 locations across the Province. This includes PBX, Key Systems, and Voicemail equipment that will not function properly after January 1, 2000. Transcend will provide Project Management expertise.

The project, which is already in progress, is segmented into four phases: Risk Assessment, Design, Acquisition, and Implementation. The Assessment Phase has recently been completed. It is expected that some form of action must be taken at approximately 170 locations. Implementation is expected to begin in November.

Transcend was chosen because of their extensive experience managing multiple concurrent implementations at the Ontario Government. Transcend is currently providing Project Management expertise at the Ministry for their OMPPAC TCP/IP migration project.

The Y2K Project is expected to be completed by June 1999.
